What You Gonna Do With That?

Hey Trav, I love your spirit of play
So irrepressible I hope you stay that way
You’ve got a lot of people that follow your lead
That’s ok cuz you got what they need
But Hey Hey Hey Trav
If you’re dealt a bad hand

What you gonna do with that
How you gonna use your voice
What you gonna do with all that
Remember you always, always have a choice

Hey Quinn, with your competitive spirit
You hit the long ball it’s always over or near it
I love your eagerness, to learn all there is to life
You’re aware that you’re aware that’s half the battle sometimes
Hey Hey Hey Quinn
If you get a curve ball

What you gonna do with that
How you gonna use your voice
What you gonna do with all that
Remember you always, always have a choice

Hey Dash, I love your dazzling smile
I feel your presence coming for miles
Life is yours to collect and to play
And I just know you won’t get in your own way
Hey Hey Hey Dash
If a goal gets scored on ya

What you gonna do with that
How you gonna use your voice
What you gonna do with all that
Remember you always, always have a choice

Hey Chase, You’ve got a creative vision
You’re gonna change the world with your decisions
It’s hard to be the one that was always the youngest
But it’s made you stronger, faster and fearless
Hey Hey Hey Chase if it don’t come out right

What you gonna do with that
How you gonna use your voice
What you gonna do with all that
Remember you always, always have a choice

Hey Chase, Hey Dash, Hey Quinn, Hey Trav
Just remember you always have a choice
How you gonna use your voice
What you gonna do with all that
Remember to always, always help your mom

Songnificance:  Rock meets Reggae Tribute Song for Mickey's Family

Songimonial:

”Wow....I'm thrilled. The boys will be thrilled. Mickey is, I'm sure, thrilled. You can include brilliant in your list of adjectives. Piercing...right through and through.

Okay, so I was bopping along with the lyrics and beat, loving the lyrics and then I broke down and cried on the last word...

You are a pro. I never saw it coming. You rock, rock, rock, rock, rock!”

-Annie, Louisiana

Songification Backstory: This song was written based on four letters written by a father to his four young sons before he passed away. Each letter contained thoughts and wishes for each son. So in putting the song together, each son had a verse dedicated to him. The Chorus mantra (What you gonna do with that) was a phrase the father used often. The intent was to teach his children that life throws lots of things at you, and what you do with them, makes all the difference in the world. In other words, you always have a choice, so choose wisely.

Musically, the father enjoyed reggae music, So the chorus is done up in a reggae style which also has a comforting element. The verses are a more action oriented groove, to speak to the 4 young boys, ranging from 10 to 16. The song concludes with a heartfelt wish for the boys to always help their mom.
