Songification Backstory:

An interesting story on how they almost didn't meet. Keith saw Patti leaning over a pool table during college and really wanted to meet her. He got her number and called her and asked her out. She looked up his picture in the yearbook and decided not to accept his offer . What happened was, there was a mix up in the yearbook. His picture was erroneously switched with some other guy's face. So she thought she was looking at him. Not to be deterred, he ending up calling her back and they figured it out and now live happily ever after. Keith wanted to surprise Patti with this song for Christmas.

Keith wanted to tell Patti that he really appreciated her. He wanted to get across that she was able to serve others real well, but he wanted to celebrate her this time, in this song. The chorus of the song contains the phrase "Hey Beautiful " which is what he calls her on a daily basis. "Three times a Lady" is of course, the Lionel Ritchie song, which was their wedding song. So that was worked into the chorus. One thing they both were striving for was to be grandparents, so that was focused on in the song as well.
